Chart of Effects of Spinal Misalignments (SUBLUXATIONS) |
The diagram shown below is a view of the spine from the left side, where the person would be facing left.
There are 24 vertebrae of the spine that are all interconnected allowing for strength, stability, and mobility. There are 3 basic areas of the spine: the Cervical spine, or the neck = composed of 7 vertebrae, the Thoracic spine, or the midback = composed of 12 vertebrae, and the Lumbar spine, or the lowback = composed of 5 vertebrae.
As you can see, there are spinal curves that allow for absorption of shock and compression, also allowing for the spinal cord to slide and move fluidly through the protective spine.
The spine provides protection and housing for the spinal cord, which relays the lfe instructions from the brain. The spinal cord gives way to the spinal nerves, which are the wiring to the muscles, organs, glands, blood vessels, etc. The chart on the right will show where the spinal nerves of each level are traveling to and what they innervate, or control. The last column will state the effects, or the symptoms, of the SUBLUXTIONS over a period of time.
If you, or someone you know, is experiencing pain or discomfort in a specific area of the back, check to confirm those symptoms or see what effects may come about if not taken care of in time.

Subluxations come about by way of the daily stress' that we encounter daily or through past traumas. Physical stress, Chemical stress, and Emotional stress are stress' that everyone will encounter. Physical stress', such as sleep positions and occupational posture affect the body the most due to the time spent in those postures. Past traumas will continue to affect the body if not healed properly.
Only a thorough Chiropractic consultation and examination will determine the presence, the location and the severity of spinal subluxations. An examination may also find subluxations that are present without symptoms, such as pain. The detection of the subluxations without symptoms are important to prevent that area from expressing symptoms.
The Chiropractic adjustment is the method in which the subluxations are corrected. Once the adjustment is performed, the body's nervous system is able to optimally function with the subluxations removed.
Many people attempt to self adjust themselves, which are extremely detrimental to the individual's spinal health. Not only can the wrong segments be re-positioned and place more pressure upon the nervous system, but the ligaments that hold bone to bone together may be stretched, resulting in joint instability.
Are you one to try and "crack" or "pop" the joints of the body? Do you have to do it multiple times a day? Do you feel as if the problems are gradually getting worst?
If you answered "yes" to these questions, think about getting yourself examined. Chiropractic care may be the ticket to living pain free and improving your quality of life!!! |
