Here's a diagram showing the proper spinal alignment when using the Back Huggar lumbar support. Notice the proper spinal curvature, when the lumbar support is placed properly.

Without a proper lumbar chair support many people run into a common, but detrimental, position called Forward Head Posture. The damaging effects of Forward Head Posture can cause lasting effects on the body as a person ages. Living in a forward facing world, the repetitive use of computers, video games, desk work, improper sleeping postitions, and even back packs can cause this detrimental posture. In the Mayo Clinic Health Letter, Volume 18, #3, March of 2000, it stated that "Forward Head Posture leads to long term muscle strain, disc herniations, arthritis, and pinched nerves."
Use the diagram below for tips on proper sitting ergonomics:
- Note that the person's ear, shoulder and hip are in alignment
- Hips, knees, and ankles should all be at 90 degrees
- Arm rest on the chair would allow the individual to relax shoulders and arms

Use these helpful tips to ensure a pain free day:
- Use a head set if phone use is heavy
- Stand up and stretch out your legs, hips and low back every 30 minutes during the day
- Stretch your neck, roll shoulders and shake out arms throughout the day

Here are the arm positions that should be practiced to prevent stress upon the arm, elbow, and wrist:
* Be aware of your arm positions throughout the day*
Incorrect arm, elbow, and wrist positions will lead to symptoms such as shoulder tension, pain traveling down the arm into the hand and fingers, and very commonly, carpal tunnel syndrome.
Remember, it all starts with the sitting position and the spine's curvatures. Use a proper lumbar chair support to ease into the proper sitting position.
