We all know that a great nights rest is essential to a vibrant tomorrow. Not only is a good nights rest essential for our physical well-being but also our mental clarity and concentration.
Because we spend many hours resting our body's and minds, it's necessary to find proper positions that the body can rest in. The following positions are the recommended positions for a good nights rest.
Sleeping on side:
* Place one pillow between the knee preventing the top leg from twisting the pelvic and lower back area *
* Use a pillow for the head, making sure that the head is not too low or too high to one side or the other *
* Hug a pillow. Use a pillow between the shoulders to keep the shoulders in alignment *
Sleeping on back:
* Place a pillow under the knees to support the lower back and the lumbar spine *
* Use ONE pillow for the head * Use a towel roll, regular bath towel, folded into 4th, and rolled up from the long end. Roll it up big enough that when placed in the small of the neck, the back of the head is on the bed *
NOT recommended is sleeping on stomach:
* Due to the spine being positioned towards the back of the torso the Lower back has little support, creating a sagging bridge effect, resulting in lower back pain *
* In this position, the head is maximally turned towards one side or the other, resulting in neck pain, numbness / tingling in the arms, and headaches *
